We have always stood up for the rights of religious minorities: Says PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto
Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhuitto Zardari had reiterated his commitment to stand for the rights of minorities. In a meeting with Shahzaib Bhatti President of Pakistan People’s Party’s Minorities’ Wing-Europe, Bilawal Bhutto discussed issues of religious minorities in Pakistan.
During an Independence Day celebration event organized in Oslo, Norway; PPP Chairman ensured that he will always stand up for the rights of the down trodden religious minorities in Pakistan. He said that sacrifices laid down by martyr Shahbaz Bhatti and Salman Taseer will not be forgotten.
Bilawal B. assured Shahzaib Bhatti that PPP would always stand by Non-Muslim fellow Pakistanis. At this occasion, Senior PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira, Former Pakistani PM Yousaf Raza Gillani, Rehman Malik and Kamran Yousaf Ghumman were also present. Previously on the occasion of the Minorities’ Day observed on August 11, PPP Chairman stated: “PPP has taken the responsibility to fulfil what Founder of the Nation Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and Founders of Democracy in Pakistan Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto promised to the religious minority of the country.”
Marking the Minorities’ Day, Bilawal Bhutto stated that Pakistan People’s Party harbors a clear vision regarding the non-Muslim citizens living in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. He emphasized that PPP unwaveringly condemns misuse of certain laws- which are often times used against individuals from minorities. At the same time, he said that PPP is always ready to sit with other Parliamentary Parties to chalk out ways to protect religious minorities and prevent misuse of certain laws against them.
